We help the former to effectively market and distribute their daily production, and the latter to secure a reliable and consistent supply of the right quality crude at the right time. We transact in over 100 different grades of crude oil in locations globally and are active across major centres where crude is produced, refined and traded, enabling our customers to benefit from critical intelligence and access to the most appropriate market. As a physical trader, we can deliver crude anywhere our customers require. We are one of the world’s largest spot charterers of crude vessels and have a dedicated fleet of various sizes, as well as access to storage on land around the world.

Our market-leading position is built on a presence throughout the supply chain, as well as the major trading hubs. In the Americas, we are involved in all major markets from Canada to Argentina. Across the continent, we have access to proprietary and leased energy infrastructure, enabling us to source and transport crudes to market, from production locations to major market hubs. We have been at the forefront of changes in US crude, anticipating the evolution of flows, supporting the market’s fast development and finding new markets for long-standing customers from West Africa, Latin America and the North Sea, enabling them to continue to optimise the value of their crudes. Asian markets are the drivers behind growing crude demand and, as well as working with Southeast Asian producers, our long-standing relationships with Middle East producers enable us to offer a stable and secure supply of competitively priced crude to our expanding customer base within the region.

The company works closely with ship owners, investors and partners to maximise the returns on the assets it manages. Its vessels range from handysize and medium range tankers, to VLCC crude tankers, VLGC LPG tankers and specialist bitumen tankers. Our New Zealand-based bunker craft owner, operator and manager, V Bunkers, offers barging services delivered by its Singapore-flagged fleet.

We are invested in six refineries worldwide and have a total refining capacity of 500,000 barrels per day.

Besides physical refining, also chemical refining is possible. Petroleum—or crude oil—is a mixture of carbon particles, formed from the debris of plants and animals that died millions of years ago and, as a result of decay and the pressure of the Earth’s surface, became compacted. The refining of crude oil purifies the crude substance, and the distillation and processing in the refinery produces new products. The most popular finished products produced from crude oil are petrol, diesel and LPG for cars and domestic fuel oil. Sulphur for the production of car tires, naphtha for the chemicals and plastics industries, matches, fertilizer and propellants for aerosols are just some of the examples of semi-finished products that we produce. Until 2020, the facility operated as an oil refinery processing crude oil. To accommodate the changing market and environmental awareness, Vaquant Construction Limited Company-An Energy Petroleum Engineering Construction Company shut down the refinery’s two crude units, and operations now focus on the desulphurization of high-Sulphur products and the production of gasoline. In addition, we have purification plants, supporting service plants and a vast storage area with various landing stages for loading and unloading of sea and inland shipping vessels, including giant oil tankers, up to Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs). The oil and all other products are stored in our own large tank farm.

Our downstream presence continues to grow both organically and through strategic investments. These encompass assets which complement our core energy business including storage and terminal infrastructure, the distribution of products at circa 7,000 retail sites across five continents, and the supply of jet fuel into wing at more than 140 airports worldwide through Vaquant Construction Limited Company-An Energy Petroleum Engineering Construction Company Aviation.

Upstream

We have managed and developed projects across a range of complex and diverse geographies such as the Former Soviet Union, Latin America and West Africa. Today, our upstream assets include E&P licences from which we produce around 30,000 barrels per day equivalent of oil and gas in West Africa, Eastern Europe and the Americas.

Our flagship project

A deepwater oil and gas project 60 km offshore Ghana developed in partnership with Eni, the Ghanaian Government and World Bank to provide gas to Ghana’s power sector.

Restoration Programme (LRP)

A targeted LRP and Community Investment Strategy was created to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth within the project’s area of influence.
